WanderFox Lair Camper for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK, 2007–2017
- Pre-Order Only (90 Days Out)
Turn Your Wrangler Into a Cabin on Wheels
The WanderFox Lair for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK replaces the factory hardtop with a lightweight, integrated pop-up camper designed for the 2007–2017 Wrangler Unlimited JK.
Instead of stacking a heavy roof rack and rooftop tent high above the Jeep, the Lair keeps the camper low, light, secure, and integrated into the vehicle. It weighs only about 50 lb more than the stock hardtop and adds just 3.25 inches of height when closed, helping preserve the Wrangler’s handling, fuel economy, and off-road capability.
Built for Camping. Still Built for Jeeping.
Inside, a 7' long × 50" wide sleeping platform provides room for two and supports up to 500 lb. Pass-through panels above the rear seat let you move between the passenger cabin and sleeping area without going outside.
Tinted, lockable rear-quarter windows swing upward for easy cargo access. The tent includes full-opening left, right, and rear panels with integrated bug screens and blackout panels.

Designed to Stay on Your Jeep
The Lair is designed to live on your Wrangler year-round without turning it into a bulky expedition rig. When closed, the Jeep remains compact, secure, and ready for daily driving or trail use.
Over more than 3,500 miles of testing on trails, desert washboard, surface streets, and highways, our 2016 Wrangler Unlimited test vehicle experienced approximately a 0.5–1.5 MPG reduction, depending on driving conditions and vehicle setup.
Lightweight sleeping bags and low-profile bedding can remain inside when the camper is closed. Bulkier bedding may require removing the 2-inch base cushions.
Important Installation Information
Installation or removal requires four able people or a suitable hoist and straps.
The Lair reuses several components from the factory hardtop, including:
- Front Freedom Panel latches
- Rear window glass
- Rear wiper and washer motor
- Factory mounting hardware
- Factory wiring
Wranglers originally equipped with a soft top will require these parts to be sourced separately.
Important 2007–2011 Fitment Note
Installation on 2007–2011 Wrangler Unlimited JK models requires several additional factory components and a 2012+ rear glass window assembly because of factory design changes.
The passenger-side rear defroster wiring will also need to be cut and reconnected during installation.
Roof Accessory Notice
WanderFox does not currently offer crossbars for the Wrangler Lair. Owners who add their own light-duty roof system should limit roof weight to 100 lb maximum, only while the camper is closed and only for on-road use. The roof should not carry accessories during off-road travel. Damage caused by owner-added roof accessories is not covered under warranty.
